Ponyo: Mother Sea

Gran Mamare is the mother of Ponyo the goldfish.  She is an immense sea goddess who succeeds in restoring the ecological balance when Ponyo attempts to become human.  Although Ponyo's father has his own magical abilities, he is ineffective in taming the ocean's wild waves or the floods that wreck havoc on the city.

Mother of the Sea (Introduction to Ponyo):

Lyrics (Translated):

Within the blue, the sea lilies sway,
I spoke with countless siblings
In the language of bubbles

Do you remember?
In the distant past, you and I lived together in the blue sea

The jellyfish, sea urchins, fish, and crabs
Were all your siblings
Do you remember?
In the distant past, you and I lived together in the blue sea

Within the blue, the sea lilies sway,
Do you remember?  Your brothers and sisters?
